      Installation

      Foundation

    1. Choose a level area or level out area where foundation must be laid.
    2. Mark out foundation with 4mm wire pegs and fishing line.
    3. Prepare cement mix for foundation.
    4. Lay foundation 100mm thick. Remember to include the PVC conduit pipe while laying the foundation.
    5. Smooth off the floor of the foundation, ensuring a level base to build fountain on, before cement sets.
    6. After an initial period of 6 hours, hose down the foundation periodically to facilitate even setting of cement without cracking. - Every hour during daytime period. - Twice during nighttime period. This hosing down should be done for the next 18 hours as it prevents the cement from drying to fast. A plastic sheet may also be used to cover the foundation during this period.
    7. After the 24 hour setting and hardening period of the foundation the rest of the fountain can be installed.

      Dam Wall

    1. Place the 4 Inside Base Albano's (193) on the corners, to act as the corner pedestals. Wet the bottom of the pedestals to ensure bonding of foundation.
    2. Apply mix to bottom of one pedestal, place into position and level it using the spirit level.
    3. Wet bottom and sides of 4 Dam Segments (151) and place the segments roughly on a foundation clover, between one pair of pedestals. Push segments to centre of fountain until fitting flush and tight with each other and the pair of pedestals.
    4. Tilt over segment next to cemented pedestal and apply mix to bottom and sides. Tilt back into place and check and correct fit and height to pedestal and next segment with wooden wedges.
    5. Repeat step 4 for next three segments, checking and correcting fit each time with wooden wedges.
    6. Pre-drill holes in metal braces and select five. Drill holes with a masonary bit and attach braces to the cemented pedestal and the segments with fisher plugs using, a hammer.
    7. The wooden wedges can be removed after allowing some time for mix to set. Smooth down mix between segments and also between first segment and pedestal.
    8. Repeat steps 2 and 7 for next pedestals and segments. Make sure to align next pedestal to previous one, at eye level, to eliminate a rising effect in the dam wall. The brace between the next pedestal and previous segment should only be attached after pedestal has been cemented into place.
    9. After mix has dried and all braces have been attached, the inside of the dam can be waterproofed using ProLong, or any other waterproofing paint. Make sure all wedges have been removed and the holes filled up with mix, before waterproofing.

      Fountain

    1. Place Cauria Base (87) in middle of dam making sure that the removable part faces away from the main approach of the fountain.
    2. Install the Pump (475) inside the Cauria Base, leaving +/- 500mm slack on electric cable to facilitate servicing of Pump. Thereafter seal both sides of conduit pipe with silicone sealant.
    3. Cement the Fontana base (130) onto the Cauria Base (87), make sure it is level and rises straight and insert wooden wedges if necessary. Also that the pattern is aligned to a point of simmertry in the garden.
    4. Push through the hose pipe from the bottom so that it sticks out 100 mm above Fontana Base.
    5. Cement the Fontana Bacino (129) onto the Fontana Base (130) and fill with water to inspect the flow from the lip of the shell. Correct and level shell with wooden wedges to gain even flow, but the shell should rather rise straight than flow evenly. Once again the pattern should be aligned and the hose should be pushed through as in step 4.
    6. Repeat step 5 for shells of Fontana a Tre cadute (132), always ensuring that pattern is aligned, and that the fountain is straight rather then flowing freely. Wooden wedges can be used to achieve this.
    7. Insert hose into metal pipe of Puttino part (boy with fish), making sure it doesn't extend further than 1/3 into metal pipe. Silicone seal the hose to the metal pipe to revent backflow of water down the inside of the fountain. Fix Puttino to top of fountain with silicone sealant rather than mix.
    8. Cut off hose at bottom so that there is no slack and attach to Pump with hose clamp. Also fill up all holes made by wedges, smooth down joints and wrap them in wet sponge or felt, as well as plastic to aid the curing process. It can be removed after 24 hours and then the joints can be painted over.
    9. Fill Dam with water and switch on Pump. Depending on flow from each shell, the lip sides of shells, a groove can be ground into the bottom of each shell lip.
